It was an evening of glitz and glamour at the Act for Kids 2017 Gala Ball in May. The theme of the evening was ‘Let Us Entertain You’ and that’s exactly what they did.

With a flash mob to kick off the festivities, guests enjoyed a performance from Russel Francis who rocked out some of Robbie Williams’ most well-known hits. The night continued with a wonderful meal, silent auctions, powerful stories, raffles, a live auction and fine wines provided by Act for Kids supporter Clovely Estate Wines.

On the night, over $147,000 was raised for Act for Kids to continue to deliver therapy and support to abused and neglected children. Dr Neil Carrington, CEO of Act for Kids, said he was humbled by the generosity of those who attended.

“It was one of our best results yet, and the money raised will go a long way in helping us see more children and put more little lives back together,” Dr Carrington said.

Channel 7’s Sammie O’Brien and Kay McGrath did a wonderful job of hosting the evening and Act for Kids veteran auctioneer and Channel 7’s Pat Walsh was as quick witted as ever and helped raise $42,000 in the live auction alone!

A highlight of the evening for many was hearing Act for Kids National Ambassador Sascha Chandler share his story and inspire others to do all that they can to make a difference.

A special thanks to the official sponsors of the evening, Mercedes-Benz Brisbane, Stephen Dibb Jewellery, Budget Direct, Vita Foundation, Brennan IT, SRJ WW and Oaks Hotels and Resorts.

The night closed with a teaser of what is to come for next year’s 30th anniversary gala ball, with the theme ‘Once Upon A Time’ set to take attendees on a journey back to their childhoods. You can watch it here.
