I would like to recognise and thank John Manning for his service to Act for Kids as Deputy Chairman and to Act for Kids’ social enterprise Youthrive as Chairman. John recently moved on from Act for Kids and Youthrive after seven years of outstanding leadership.

John has had a long history with Act for Kids. From 2006 to 2007, when Act for Kids was known as the Abused Child Trust, he held the position of Acting Chief Executive Officer. In February 2013, he joined the Act for Kids Board, and in April was appointed the Youthrive Chairman. John was elected Act for Kids Deputy Chairman in November 2013, and in May 2017 was elected as Acting Chairman until January 2018. John’s passion for helping vulnerable kids and families is inspiring, and we are incredibly grateful for his service.

Following John’s resignation in February this year, we were pleased to elect Nigel Harris as the new Deputy Chairman of Act for Kids and appoint Thomas Rice as the new Chairman of Youthrive.

I would like to again congratulate Dr Katrina Lines on her appointment as the new CEO of Act of Kids. Katrina, who will commence her new role at the end of August, is an exceptional leader and will bring enormous operational and professional experience to the role.

I am humbled to work with such incredible people who strive every day to see just one more child and help just one more family.

Kind regards

Hon Dr David Hamill AM
