A new centre delivering support for families going through tough times has opened its doors on Queensland’s Fraser Coast.

Family and Child Connect (FaCC) Maryborough has received more than 1200 requests for help prior to its official opening this week, ensuring those who are experiencing challenges or need parenting support are referred to the appropriate services.

FaCC Maryborough celebrated moving into a new home at 312-314 Kent Street with a morning tea attended by State Member for Maryborough John Barounis, Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour and community service leaders.

It is operated by leading child protection organisation, Act for Kids.

Act for Kids Executive Director of Service Operations Dr Kaye Pickering described the morning tea as an opportunity for community leaders and support services to learn more about FaCC and share resources and knowledge.

“This service can help people experiencing violence at home, substance abuse issues, homelessness, parenting concerns or challenges and those who need help managing a child’s behaviour or building better family relationships,” Dr Pickering explained.

“When you reach out to FaCC, you’ll speak with an experienced family support worker who will listen to any concerns you may have and connect you with appropriate people to help you and your family.

“Those who need help can call the office line on 4122 9150, call 13 32 64 or simply walk into the office at 312-314 Kent Street, Maryborough.”
