A new specialist integrated therapy service opened earlier this month in Adelaide. Thanks to our generous supporters, Act for Kids has opened its first service in South Australia.

The Adelaide centre provides integrated therapy for children and young people who have experienced trauma from abuse and neglect. We also work with the child’s family/carers to help them deal with the child’s behaviour or challenges and to reinforce their progress in therapy at home.

The service is headed by Kathy Moar, who has more than 20 years’ experience as a psychologist working with vulnerable children, their families and related agencies.

Dr Katrina Lines, Executive Director of Programs, Research and Education at Act for Kids said the team will soon expand to include other multidisciplinary therapists skilled at using an integrated approach to support the emotional and developmental needs of children and young people.

“We will work closely with the existing health services to ensure local kids and families get the integrated support they need to overcome their experiences and challenges. We have helped thousands of kids and families in other communities through integrated therapy. Seeing them get stronger and have happier, healthier futures is our goal,” Dr Lines said.
