On Friday 18 September, Act for Kids was invited by ABC News to participate in the 2015 Heads Up: Youth Mental Health Forum held in Brisbane

The Forum explored issues surrounding youth mental health including the prevalence of mental health issues, causes, impact, resourcing and solutions. Panellists from all over the country participated and included, Queensland Health Minister Cameron Dick.

The forum was an excellent opportunity to discuss the mental wellbeing of Australia’s kids said Act for Kids, Regional Director of Brisbane and Wide Bay/Burnett, Mr Thomas McIntyre.

“It was an important time to discuss how the mental health system manages trauma for young people. Therapeutic services for young people in Australia will always be something that needs consistency, with regard to further studies, research, development and attention,” said Mr McIntyre.

“Every year the number of young people we help increases, but without future support it can be a challenge to reach more people.”
